Salicylic Acid (BHA)

Salicylic Acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA) widely used in cosmetic and dermatological formulations for acne control, exfoliation, oil regulation, and pore cleansing.
Being lipophilic, it penetrates into pores to dissolve excess sebum, dead skin cells, and impurities, making it highly effective for acne-prone, oily, and congested skin.

It also supports anti-dandruff and scalp exfoliation in hair care applications.

 Poorly soluble in water

Usage Guideline:

Dosage (Cosmetic):

• Leave-on products: 0.2–2.0%

• Rinse-off products: up to 3.0%

Phase:

• Pre-dissolve in glycol or alcohol

• Add in cool-down phase (<40°C)

pH Range: 3.2 – 4.5 (critical for efficacy)
Compatibility: Niacinamide (with buffer control), Zinc PCA, Sulfur, Tea Tree, Azelaic Acid derivatives, soothing agents (Allantoin, Panthenol)
